Enjoy small class sizes and one-on-one attention while you master the scientific method and hone your skills in modern laboratory spaces in the Nettie Stevens building. As a student within the Chemical and Physical Sciences Department, you'll receive free tutoring by upper-level students from the department and easy access to full-time faculty during their office hours. We also offer a seminar series to meet current students and alumni and additional scholarship opportunities for licensure tracks and chemistry majors provided by the National Science Foundation.

The Chemical and Physical Sciences Department provides an accessible, supportive environment that makes it easier to learn the “hard” sciences. We help you hone your science communication skills and offer internships that provide valuable real-world experience.

You’ll have access to our modern benchtop NMR and chromatograph/mass spectrometry combination instruments recently installed in our dedicated lab. Capable of separating complex mixtures and identifying components within minutes, the GC/MS is utilized in various fields including law enforcement, pharmaceutical testing, food safety, medicine, basic research, and quality control in the chemical and biotechnology industry.
