The Nursing Program at Westfield State

The Nursing Program at Westfield State is a 4-year, full-time Nursing Program. Students transferring into the traditional Nursing Program should expect that it will take three more years to complete, regardless of the number of credits previously attained.

All courses for the traditional Nursing Program are offered during the day, Monday through Friday, on campus; there are no evening or weekend courses offered. Clinical rotations mostly occur during the week, though some weekend and evening placements may be assigned. Students cannot request placements; all clinical assignments are determined by the Nursing Department.

The number of spots open each year for transfer students is dependent on space availability. There are three different pathways for transfer applicants:

  • Internal Transfer – Current WSU students with at least 45 WSU credits
  • External Transfer – Students transferring 45+ credits from another institution
  • RN to BSN Completion Program – For students with an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) & RN license, offering a flexible 12, 15, or 24 month completion timeline with online coursework options.
Internal Transfer Students

Internal transfer students are current Westfield State University students who wish to change their major to Nursing. Due to the structured and sequential nature of the curriculum, internal transfers should expect to spend a minimum of three years completing the program, regardless of previously completed coursework.

  • Submission of:
